We would love to hear your opinions on the books about knitting!
K1, P1, There's more to knitting than the stitches!

"...a knitted cozy on the teapot, the cotton dishrags that Gran had stitched together and actually used. ( a good texture pattern gives better scrubbing action, she told Dakota conspiratorially. A pattern should be, at its core, a practical plan for achieving a goal.)"
- The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs.

Have you noticed knitting as a subject in some new releases? Not just diaries of knitters or pattern books but actual literary accomplishments. One of my favorite authors, Debbie Macomber of The Shop on Blossom Street seems to have gotten the yarn skein rolling.

Now authors writing about knitting clubs, ladies of the sticks n twine whose lives wind around knitting, each others problems and their knitting problems or projects are at the local bookstore.

The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs pulls you into the club like a fine angora yarn on the shelf. You can relate to the shop, its customers and their knitting. Knitting touches so many lives and this book demonstrates how a common thread brings strangers together to become a family.

I had heard a rumor that the rights had been purchased for this book, what a great movie it would make!

Knitting Under the Influence by Claire LaZebnik a group of friends who knit and learn life lessons through their knitting. Several key points: Do not knit something for a boyfriend, you will break up and be stuck with a sweater that wont fit you or too many skeins of a color you never liked! Never knit or frog while drinking! A light comedy which would make a good movie or series on tv.

The Shop on Blossom  Street published in 2004 introduces you to a group of knitters who become good friends  stitching socks and amongst the yarns their lives tangle together. The characters bring you into their lives and keep your interest. So much so Ms. Macomber wrote a sequel ,A Good Yarn , where your beloved characters knit into your hearts. Maybe your knitting group is like the ones in A Good Yarn, if so write us and tell us about yourselves.
